BEAUTIFUL PLANETS Series Galerie Gosserez / sculpture vases

Unique pieces

BEAUTIFUL PLANETS is a series of unusual sculpture vases, each one of which could suggest a planet of the universe.

The collection plays with the mix of materials - wood, medium, cardboard, leather and glass - and the contrast between the raw and the "finished" to create a new aesthetic balance. For every planet, an unexpected and intriguing surface surprises you. Layers of solid elm with a velvety touch create an original visual graphics. Chipboard, once reworked and lacquered, takes on the appearance of volcanic rock. Raw and lacquered medium married to "slices" of cardboard stacked for a touch more "rock & roll". And finally, a scrap leather fastener stamped "RE-USE", simply cut out raw.

Exclusively made out of scraps, each piece is a unique eco-design creation due to the veins in the wood and the choice of materials and colours according to the scraps available at a given moment. Each planet is handmade and born out of the designer's work, with a particular attention for beautiful finish.

"The engraving 'mother earth - la terre est notre mère' is my leitmotiv, the guiding thread of my work. This beautiful phrase, which means everything, is at the origin of my ecological commitment. It finds all its meaning in creating my 'beautiful planets'. What better than a sphere could embody our beautiful planet earth?"
